Live scores, highlights and updates from the East Carolina vs. UCF football game
Game Recap
The East Carolina Pirates weren't able to make up for their loss to the UCF Knights from their previous meeting last October. East Carolina has to be aching after a bruising 51-28 defeat to UCF Saturday. The Pirates haven't found any success against UCF since Nov. 19 of 2015, this loss making it five in a row.
UCF QB Dillon Gabriel was on fire, passing for four TDs and 408 yards on 47 attempts. Near the top of the highlight reel was Gabriel's 64-yard TD bomb to WR Jaylon Robinson in the second quarter. The squad can also thank their defense for forcing the opposing offense to cough up 4 turnovers.
Special teams collected 15 points for UCF. K Daniel Obarski delivered a perfect 3-for-3 game.
The losing side was boosted by QB Holton Ahlers, who passed for three TDs and 215 yards on 29 attempts in addition to picking up 55 yards on the ground. Chase Hayden's longest reception was for 31 yards in the third quarter.
The loss dropped the Pirates back to even at 0-0. The victory bumped the Knights record up to 1-0.
East Carolina will square off against the Georgia State Panthers at noon ET next week at Center Parc Stadium. Georgia State also suffered a recent loss, falling 34-31 to the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns last week. As for UCF, they will go up against the Tulsa Golden Hurricane at 7:30 p.m. ET next week at Bounce House. Unlike UCF, Tulsa will be stumbling in off of a loss.
