Alabama vs. Oklahoma, College Football Playoff betting preview

The No. 8 Oklahoma Sooners host the No. 9 Alabama Crimson Tide in the College Football Playoff opener, and the only CFP game on the Friday slate before a Saturday tripleheader. Oklahoma has never won a national championship in the CFP era, which held its first final in January 2015. Meanwhile, Alabama has three College Football Playoff titles. The Sooners are coming off a 10-2 season and have won four straight games, including defeating Alabama, 23-21, in Tuscaloosa on Nov. 15.

Alabama fell to 10-3 following a 28-7 loss to Georgia in the SEC championship game on Dec. 6. The Crimson Tide had away victories over No. 5 Georgia and No. 14 Missouri this season, though, so they shouldn't be intimidated by the road environment. Quarterback Ty Simpson threw for 3,268 yards and was a Heisman Trophy finalist this year. Oklahoma is a 1-point favorite in the latest Alabama vs. Oklahoma odds at Fanatics Sportsbook, with an over/under set at 40.5 points. Claim the latest Fanatics Sportsbook promo code CBSFAN here:

Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua betting

Jake Paul returns to the ring on Friday night as the YouTuber-turned-boxer takes on his biggest challenge yet, both literally and figuratively. Paul takes on former two-time champion and Gold Medal-winning boxer Anthony Joshua on Friday night with the main event expected to start around 10:30 p.m. ET. Paul is 12-1 over his career with seven knockouts, while Joshua is 28-4 with 25 knockouts. Paul is 6-foot-1, while Joshua is 6-6.

Joshua isn't an over-the-hill boxer or a crossover athlete. He's a 36-year-old boxer who has won four of five fights since April 2023. Many people have wanted to see Paul get knocked out since he made the move into celebrity boxing, and they may get their wish on Friday. Joshua is the -975 favorite, with Paul as the +620 underdog in the latest Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua odds at Fanatics Sportsbook. Joshua is -400 to win by KO/TKO. Paul is +1300 to win by KO/TKO. Claim the latest Fanatics Sportsbook promo code CBSFAN here:

Week 16 NFL betting

The current No. 1 seed in the AFC belongs to an AFC West team, but the one you would have expected it to be is already eliminated from the postseason. The Chiefs were erased from playoff contention following their 16-13 loss to the Chargers last week to drop to 6-8 on the year, and they'll be playing the rest of the season without Patrick Mahomes, who tore his ACL late in the loss. Gardner Minshew will start at quarterback for Kansas City, which can still finish with a winning record for the 13th straight season with three straight wins. For NFL betting, the Chiefs are 3.5-point favorites against the Titans in the latest Week 16 NFL odds at Fanatics Sportsbook for Sunday.

However, the team with that top spot is the Denver Broncos with a 12-2 record. The Broncos face another surprising team to be toward the top of the conference in the Jacksonville Jaguars, who are 10-4 and the current No. 3 seed in the AFC. The Broncos have won 11 straight while the Jaguars have won five straight in a matchup of two of the hottest teams in the NFL at the moment. The Broncos are 3-point favorites at Fanatics. Click here to get started:
