Saturday college football betting preview

BYU was a win away from playing in the College Football Playoff, but Texas Tech rolled the Cougars, 34-7, in the Big 12 championship game. That win snapped a three-game winning streak in an 11-2 season, where both of BYU's losses came to Texas Tech, which has a legitimate chance to win a national championship. Georgia Tech went 9-3 but lost three of its final four games. The Yellow Jackets played Georgia tough, though, in the final game of the season, falling 16-9 to one of the best teams in the nation. BYU is favored by 3.5 points in the latest Saturday college football odds at Fanatics Sportsbook for the Pop-Tarts Bowl at 3:30 p.m. ET.

The final two games on Saturday feature SEC teams going up against other conferences, with Missouri facing Virginia in the Gator Bowl at 7:30 p.m. ET, and LSU playing Houston at 9:15 p.m. ET in the Texas Bowl. LSU has been in the news since the end of the regular season with the hiring of Lane Kiffin, but the former Ole Miss coach won't coach the bowl game. LSU's list of opt-outs includes wide receiver Aaron Anderson and Mansoor Delane, who will prepare for the NFL Draft. Houston went 9-3 this season and can cap its year with a victory over one of the biggest names in college football with a win at the Texas Bowl.

Missouri is a 4-point favorite over Virginia, while LSU is a 2.5-point underdog to Houston at Fanatics Sportsbook. Houston could have a fan advantage with the game being played at the Texans' NRG Stadium, but LSU fans can travel. Click here to get started:
