After two games on the road, FAU is heading back home. They will take on the East Carolina Pirates at 4:00 p.m. ET on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
FAU pushed their score all the way to 42 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of UAB by a score of 45-42. The close contest was extra heartbreaking for FAU, who almost overcame a 21 point deficit.
FAU's loss came about despite a quality game from Lajohntay Wester, who picked up 219 receiving yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in a rushing scores. Wester's longest reception was for an incredible 76 yards. Daniel Richardson had a good game too, finishing with 293 passing yards and three touchdowns in total.
Meanwhile, East Carolina's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight loss. They fell just short of Tulane by a score of 13-10. The match was a 10-10 toss-up at halftime, but East Carolina couldn't answer the 3 points Tulane scored afterwards.
FAU now has a losing record at 4-5. As for East Carolina, their defeat was their third straight at home , which bumped their record down to 1-8.
Looking ahead, FAU is the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by 8.5 points.
