Florida Atlantic vs. FIU updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Florida Atlantic vs. FIU football game
The FIU Panthers are staring down a pretty large 10.5-point disadvantage in the spread for Saturday's game. The Panthers and the Florida Atlantic Owls will face off in a Conference USA battle at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday at FAU Stadium. FIU has some work to do to even out the 1-5 series between these two since October of 2015, but a win here would be a good start.
FIU was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap last week as they fell 31-27 to the Central Michigan Chippewas. FIU was up 27-10 at the end of the third quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead. FIU's loss came about despite a quality game from WR Tyrese Chambers, who caught six passes for one TD and 175 yards.
Meanwhile, the night started off rough for Florida Atlantic last week, and it ended that way, too. They found themselves the reluctant recipients of an unfortunate 31-7 punch to the gut against the Air Force Falcons. The last quarter was a mere formality since it was already 31-7 by the third quarter. Florida Atlantic's only offensive touchdown came on a rush from QB N'Kosi Perry.
The losses put the Panthers at 1-3 and the Owls at 2-2. A pair of defensive numbers to keep in mind before kickoff: FIU is stumbling into the contest with the 237th most passing touchdowns allowed in the nation, having given up ten on the season. Florida Atlantic has experienced some struggles of their own as they are 235th worst in the nation in rushing yards allowed per game, with 253.5 on average. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
