Florida vs. Vanderbilt updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Florida vs. Vanderbilt football game
Vanderbilt has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Florida Gators at 4:00 p.m. ET on Saturday at Florida Field at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. Vanderbilt is limping into the contest on a 4-game losing streak.
Last Saturday, Vanderbilt lost to Missouri at home by a decisive 38-21 margin. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Vanderbilt in their matchups with Missouri: they've now lost four in a row.
Vanderbilt's defeat came about despite a quality game from Ken Seals, who threw for 259 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Those 259 passing yards set a new season-high mark for Seals. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Sheppard, who picked up 98 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Florida ended up a good deal behind Kentucky on Saturday and lost 33-14. Despite the loss, Florida had strong showings from Graham Mertz, who threw for 244 yards and two touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes, and Ricky Pearsall, who picked up 62 receiving yards.
The losses dropped Vanderbilt to 2-4 and Florida to 3-2.
In addition to losing their last games, the pair failed to cover the spread. Looking ahead, Florida is the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by 18 points. Neither team has fared well against the spread this season; Florida is 1-4, while Vanderbilt is 0-6.
Vanderbilt was able to grind out a solid win over Florida when the teams last played last November, winning 31-24. The rematch might be a little tougher for Vanderbilt since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
