FRES vs. NEV Live updates Score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAAF game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Fresno State vs. Nevada football game
Game Recap
The Fresno State Bulldogs were the 21-3 winners over the Nevada Wolf Pack when they last met in last October. On Saturday? They had no such luck. Fresno State fell to Nevada 35-28. If the result catches you off guard, it should: the Bulldogs were the far and away favorite.
Nevada's success was spearheaded by the efforts of RB Toa Taua, who rushed for 135 yards and one TD on 20 carries, and QB Carson Strong, who passed for 154 yards and three TDs on 31 attempts. WR Romeo Doubs also deserves a shout-out for his two TDs.
Nevada's defense was a presence as well, and it made life painful for the quarterback and got past the Bulldogs' offensive line for a total of four sacks for a loss of 35 yards. It was a group effort with three picking up 1.5 sacks apiece.
The Bulldogs' loss shouldn't obscure the performances of RB Ronnie Rivers, who caught seven passes for 88 yards and one TD, and QB Jorge Reyna, who passed for 261 yards and three TDs on 37 attempts.
The game brought Nevada to 6-4 and dropped Fresno State to a mirror-image 4-6.
Fresno State will take on the San Jose State Spartans at 10:30 p.m. ET next week at CEFCU Stadium. These teams are both seeking redemption after dropping matches that they were favored to win. The Wolf Pack will be playing at home against the UNLV Rebels at 3 p.m. ET. UNLV is also hoping to continue their momentum after a victory on Saturday.
