Fresno State vs. New Mexico updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Fresno State vs. New Mexico football game
3rd Quarter Report
Fortunes may be turning around for New Mexico after losing three in a row. They have jumped out to a 18-14 lead against Fresno State. New Mexico took a bit hit to their ego last Saturday, so a win here would be a pleasant pick-me-up.
New Mexico came into the contest with some extra motivation after the loss they were dealt the last time these two teams faced off. We'll see if they're able to flip the script or if it'll just be more of the same.
Preview
If the oddsmakers' predictions hold true, the near future looks bright for Fresno State. They will be playing at home against the New Mexico Lobos at 10:30 p.m. ET on Saturday at Valley Children's Stadium. The timing is sure in Fresno State's favor as the squad sits on nine straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while New Mexico has not had much luck on the away from home, with three straight road losses.
Fresno State gave up the first points and the most points on Saturday. They suffered a painful 42-18 loss at the hands of San Jose State.
Meanwhile, New Mexico was expected to have a tough go of it on Saturday and that exactly how things played out. It's going to take some time for them to recover from the 42-14 bruising that Boise State dished out on Saturday. New Mexico has struggled against Boise State recently, as their game on Saturday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
New Mexico's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jacory Croskey-Merritt, who rushed for 73 yards and two touchdowns, and Devon Dampier who threw for 200 yards on 17 of 26 attempts.
The losses dropped Fresno State to 8-2 and New Mexico to 3-7.
In addition to losing their last games, both teams failed to cover the spread. As mentioned, Fresno State is the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by 23 points. This contest might not be the best time to bet New Mexico against the spread since they've let bettors down the last three times they've played.
Everything came up roses for Fresno State against New Mexico in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 41-9 win. Will Fresno State repeat their success, or does New Mexico have a better game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
