Saturday’s showdown in Gainesville between No. 3 South Carolina and No. 9 Florida will be determined by which team has the better passing game, according to Gary Danielson, CBS Sports’ lead college football analyst.
“These teams rely on their front seven dominating,” said Danielson, who will call the 3:30 p.m. ET game with Verne Lundquist. “But both secondaries have playmakers, NFL-caliber players. That is why the passing game is going to be important. Because of the excellence of the front seven, they’re not likely to run over the other football team.”
Danielson called Gamecocks wideout and punt returner Ace Sanders the wildcard.
“He has really turned the tables for South Carolina when they’ve won,” Danielson said. “Florida punts the ball extremely well. They cover punts extremely well. Florida cannot let Sanders beat them.”
