Georgia Southern vs. Coastal Carolina updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Georgia Southern vs. Coastal Carolina football game
The Georgia Southern Eagles and the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers will face off in a Sun Belt East battle at 7:00 p.m. ET on Saturday at Allen E. Paulson Stadium. Georgia Southern is out to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
You can't lose the matchup if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Georgia Southern's strategy against Ball State on Saturday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Georgia Southern blew Ball State out of the water with a 40-3 final score. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 23-0.
Georgia Southern can attribute much of their success to Davis Brin, who threw for 344 yards and four touchdowns. It was a true group effort though, as the team also got help from Khaleb Hood, who picked up 107 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for Georgia Southern, racking up 16 points in total. All those points came courtesy of Michael Lantz: he added 12 points with four field goals, and another four kicking extra points.
Meanwhile, the point spread favored Coastal Carolina on Thursday, but luck did not. They fell 30-17 to Georgia State.
Despite the loss, Coastal Carolina got a solid performance out of Grayson McCall, who threw for 295 yards and a touchdown.
Georgia Southern's win lifted them to 3-1 while Coastal Carolina's defeat dropped them down to 2-2.
Looking ahead, Georgia Southern is the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by 6.5 points.
What a start it's been for Georgia Southern: they've won three of their first four contests so far this season, giving them a solid 3-1 record. To be fair, it's not like the team was facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-3 Ball State (Georgia Southern's opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 35.4% over those games). Meanwhile, Coastal Carolina's defeat on Thursday dropped their record down to 2-2.
