Georgia State vs. Arkansas State: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAA Football game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Georgia State vs. Arkansas State football game
After three games on the road, the Georgia State Panthers are heading back home. Georgia State and the Arkansas State Red Wolves will face off in a Sun Belt battle at 2 p.m. ET on Saturday at Center Parc Stadium. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Last week, the Panthers' offense rose to the challenge against a Coastal Carolina defense that boasted an average of only 17.33 points allowed. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers, sneaking past 42-40. Georgia State's RB Tucker Gregg looked sharp as he punched in three rushing touchdowns.
Georgia State's defense was a presence as well, as it got past Coastal Carolina's offensive line to sack the quarterback four times for a total loss of 36 yards. Leading the way was DE Javon Denis and his two sacks. Those were the first sacks for Denis through ten games.
Speaking of close games: after constant struggles on the road, Arkansas State has finally found some success away from home. They had just enough and edged out the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks 27-24. The Red Wolves can attribute much of their success to WR Te'Vailance Hunt, who caught eight passes for two TDs and 96 yards.
The Panthers are the favorite in this one, with an expected 16.5-point margin of victory. They are currently five-for-five against the spread in their most recent games, a trend bettors might want to take into account.
The wins brought Georgia State up to 5-5 and Arkansas State to 2-8. Two defensive stats to keep an eye on: Georgia State is 208th worst in the nation in touchdowns allowed, with 36 on the season. Arkansas State has experienced some struggles of their own as they are stumbling into the contest with the 247th most touchdowns allowed in the nation, having given up 51 on the season. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
