Georgia State vs. Marshall: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAA Football game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Georgia State vs. Marshall football game
Two of the most dominant backs in Rasheen Ali and Marcus Carroll are set to square off. The Marshall Thundering Herd will head out on the road to face off against the Georgia State Panthers at 7:00 p.m. ET on Saturday at Center Parc Stadium. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
After a string of nine wins dating back to last season, Marshall's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell 48-41 to North Carolina State. Marshall has struggled against North Carolina State recently, as Saturday's match was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Marshall got a solid performance out of Cam Fancher, who threw for 315 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. That's the first time this season that Fancher threw for 300 or more yards. Josh Moten got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Georgia State managed to keep up with Troy until halftime two Saturdays ago, but things quickly went downhill from there. Georgia State suffered a grim 28-7 defeat to Troy. Georgia State didn't live up to their potential and found themselves falling short of the advantage oddsmakers thought they had coming into the game.
Georgia State's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Carroll, who gained 112 total yards and a touchdown, and Robert Lewis who picked up 114 receiving yards.
With their first loss of the season, Marshall fell to 4-1. Georgia State's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-1.
Marshall is hoping to beat the odds on Saturday, as the experts think they're headed for a loss.
Marshall didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Georgia State in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, but they still walked away with a 28-23 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Georgia State's Jamari Thrash, who picked up 167 receiving yards and a touchdown. Now that he won't be playing on Saturday, will it be that much easier for Marshall to walk away with another win? Check CBSSports.com after the match to find out.
