The Syracuse Orange will head out on the road to face off against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at 8:00 p.m. ET on Saturday at Bobby Dodd Stadium at Hyundai Field. Syracuse is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
Even though Syracuse has not done well against Pittsburgh recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Syracuse took down Pittsburgh 28-13.
Syracuse's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Garrett Shrader, who rushed for 96 yards and a touchdown, and Dan Villari, who rushed for 154 yards and a touchdown while picking up 9.1 yards per carry. Syracuse also got a significant boost from LeQuint Allen, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 102 yards.
Meanwhile, Georgia Tech started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Clemson. They were the victim of a bruising 42-21 loss at the hands of the Tigers on Saturday. Georgia Tech has not had much luck with Clemson recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
With Syracuse's win and Georgia Tech's loss, both teams now sport identical 5-5 records.
Syracuse is hoping to beat the odds on Saturday, as the experts think they're headed for a loss. This contest will be their seventh straight as the underdogs (so far over this stretch they are 1-5 against the spread).
Saturday's match might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. The Orange have been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 176 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like the Yellow Jackets struggle in that department as they've been even better at 195.4 per game. It's looking like Saturday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches. Come back here after the game to find expert analysis of the match and other college football content.
