Redshirt sophomore quarterback Marqui Adams returns for the Hornets after leading the offense a year ago. In nine games, he completed 110 of 185 passes (59.5%) for 1,452 yards and nine touchdowns. He was intercepted nine times and had a quarterback rating of 131.7. Adams was also the team's second-leading rusher, carrying 81 times for 278 yards (3.4 average) and one touchdown.

Also returning is redshirt junior running back Marquis Gillis. In 11 games a year ago, he carried 143 times for 732 yards (5.1 average) and five scores.
