Houston vs. TCU updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Houston vs. TCU football game
The Houston Cougars will look to defend their home field on Saturday against the TCU Horned Frogs at 8:00 p.m. ET at TDECU Stadium. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Houston went for two against Rice on Saturday, and the resulting failed attempt cost them the contest. Houston fell just short of Rice by a score of 43-41. Even though they lost, Houston's still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 29 points per game (they're now ranked 71st in scoring overall).
Houston's defeat came about despite a quality game from QB Donovan Smith, who threw for 260 yards and two touchdowns on 42 attempts, in addition to 57 yards on the ground and three rushing scores. The team also got some help courtesy of WR Matthew Golden, who found the endzone twice on 60 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, TCU really took it to Nicholls State for a full 4 quarters, racking up a 41-6 victory at home. TCU pushed the score to 24-6 by the end of the third, a deficit Nicholls State had little chance of recovering from.
QB Chandler Morris was a one-man wrecking crew for TCU as he threw for 263 yards and two touchdowns on 30 attempts, in addition to 63 yards on the ground and a rushing score. WR Jordyn Bailey also helped out by posting a receiving touchdown.
Houston will need to dig deep on Saturday, as the experts think they're headed for a loss. They finished last season with a mediocre 4-8 record against the spread, so bettors beware.
The Cougars will be out to turn their luck around, while the Horned Frogs will be hoping to grab another win. Check back to see if Houston can bounce back or if TCU can keep them down.
