Live scores, highlights and updates from the Houston vs. Texas Tech football game
Game Recap
On Saturday, the Houston Cougars were out to avenge their 63-49 defeat to the Texas Tech Red Raiders from their previous meeting in September of 2018, but they had no such luck. The Cougars lost to Texas Tech by a decisive 38-21 margin. Houston was up 14 to nothing at the end of the first quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.
Among those leading the charge for Texas Tech was RB Tahj Brooks, who rushed for two TDs and 134 yards on 15 carries. Texas Tech's LB Riko Jeffers got in on the action, too, converting a pick in the third quarter into a touchdown.
Texas Tech's defense was a presence as well, as it collected four interceptions. Those interceptions were spread across their defensive unit.
No one had a standout game offensively for Houston, but they got scores from WR Nathaniel Dell and TE Seth Green.
The contest pushed the Cougars down to 0-1 and pulled the Red Raiders up to the reverse at 1-0.
Houston will square off against the Rice Owls at 6:30 p.m. ET next Saturday at Rice Stadium. Rice also suffered a recent loss, falling 38-17 to the Arkansas Razorbacks on Saturday. Texas Tech will take on the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks at 7 p.m. ET next Saturday at home.
