Illinois vs. Iowa: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAAF game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Illinois vs. Iowa football game
Game Recap
If the Illinois Fighting Illini were expecting to get some payback for the 19-10 loss against the Iowa Hawkeyes when they previously met last November, then they were left disappointed. Illinois came up short against Iowa on Saturday, falling 35-21.
WR Ihmir Smith-Marsette was the offensive standout of the contest for the Hawkeyes, punching in one rushing touchdown in addition to snatching one receiving TD. QB Spencer Petras had a good game, too, finishing with three touchdowns.
No one had a standout game offensively for the Fighting Illini, but they got scores from a handful of players including TE Daniel Barker, WR Carlos Sandy, and QB Isaiah Williams.
Illinois' overall record fell to 2-4. The win improved Iowa's record to 5-2.
Illinois will take on the Northwestern Wildcats at 1 p.m. ET next Saturday at Ryan Field. Like Illinois, Northwestern is looking to wash their mouths of the taste of defeat after falling 29-20 to the Michigan State Spartans. Iowa will take on the Wisconsin Badgers at 1 p.m. ET next Saturday at home. Iowa is 4-0 after wins this year, and Wisconsin is 0-1 after losses.
