Illinois vs. Nebraska updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Friday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Illinois vs. Nebraska football game
Nebraska has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Illinois Fighting Illini at 8:00 p.m. ET on Friday at Memorial Stadium. Nebraska is expected to lose this one by four points, so we'll see if that gives them a bit of motivation.
It's going to take some time for Nebraska to recover from the brutal 45-7 bruising that Michigan dished out on Saturday. Nebraska has struggled against Michigan recently, as Saturday's matchup was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Illinois managed to keep up with Purdue until halftime, but things quickly went downhill from there. Illinois suffered a grim 44-19 defeat to Purdue on Saturday.
The losses dropped both teams to an identical 2-3.
In addition to losing their last games, Nebraska and Illinois failed to cover the spread. Looking ahead, Illinois is the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by four points. There could be an interesting gambling play in this one: Illinois is only 0-5 against the spread overall, but they're a solid 4-1 ATS vs. Nebraska across their last five meetings.
Nebraska ended up a good deal behind Illinois when they played in their previous matchup last October, losing 26-9. Can Nebraska avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
