Iowa vs. Minnesota Live updates Score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAAF game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Iowa vs. Minnesota football game
Game Recap
The Iowa Hawkeyes were successful in their previous meeting against the Minnesota Golden Gophers, and they didn't afford Minnesota any payback this time around. On Saturday, the Hawkeyes secured a 27-22 W over the Golden Gophers. That's two games in a row now that Iowa have won by five points.
QB Alex Padilla hadn't helped Iowa's cause all that much against the Northwestern Wildcats last week, but the same can't be said for this contest. Iowa Padilla was slinging it as he passed for two TDs and 206 yards on 24 attempts in addition to punching in one rushing touchdown. Padilla's 72-yard touchdown toss down the right side of the field to WR Charlie Jones in the third quarter made for one of the most memorable moments of the afternoon. On the other hand, RB Tyler Goodson had a very so-so game, which wouldn't be worth mentioning except that he carried the ball significantly more than any other Iowa running back.
WR Chris Autman-Bell put forth a good effort for the losing side as he caught five passes for one TD and 109 yards.
The win bumped Iowa's record up to 8-2. Minnesota's loss pushed them down to 6-4.
The Hawkeyes will be playing at home against the Illinois Fighting Illini at 2 p.m. ET next Saturday. Like Iowa, Illinois is also coming into the game bolstered by a recent victory. The Golden Gophers are on the road again next Saturday and play against the Indiana Hoosiers at 3:30 p.m. ET Nov. 20 at Memorial Stadium. Minnesota is 2-1 after losses this year, IU 2-5.
