Two dominant signal callers in Will Howard and Donovan Smith are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Kansas State Wildcats will be playing at home against the Houston Cougars at 12:00 p.m. ET on Saturday at Bill Snyder Family Stadium. Kansas State will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Kansas State on Saturday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew TCU out of the water with a 41-3 final score. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 27-3.
Kansas State's success was spearheaded by the efforts of DJ Giddens, who gained 160 total yards and two touchdowns, and Howard, who threw for 154 yards and three touchdowns. Giddens was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 61 yards. Kansas State also got a significant boost from Treshaun Ward, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 89 yards.
Meanwhile, Houston couldn't handle Texas on Saturday and fell 31-24.
Despite the loss, Houston had strong showings from Smith, who threw for 378 yards and three touchdowns, and Matthew Golden, who picked up 88 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Smith is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last three games he's played.
Kansas State is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. As for Houston, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
While only Kansas State took care of their fans the last time they played, both teams pleased bettors by covering the spread. Looking forward, Kansas State is the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by 18 points. For those looking to play the spread, take note: they are a solid 4-0 against the spread when playing at home.
