Turns out, Harambe's legacy will live on -- in college football.

For anyone out there needing a refresher, Harambe was the Cincinnati Zoo gorilla who was shot and killed in May when a young child scaled the fence and entered his habitat. After Harambe dragged the child around, officials opted to kill the gorilla rather than subdue it, sparking a controversy over who was really at fault.

Regardless of your stance, Harambe has become a, shall we say, interesting meme on the Internet. #RIPHarambe is a thing -- a thing I personally don't understand, but a thing all the same -- and Boston College quarterback Patrick Towles is the latest to get in on it.

On his Instagram account, Towles dedicated the 2016 season to the slain gorilla:

Dedicating this season to the realist there ever was... #RIPHARAMBE

"Dedicating this season to the realist there ever was... #RIPHARAMBE" wrote Towles, who transferred to Boston College from Kentucky.

Or, as Boston College coach Steve Addazio would say, "Harambe... what a DUDE."
