Louisiana Tech vs. Charlotte Live updates Score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAA Football game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Louisiana Tech vs. Charlotte football game
The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs will be returning home after a two-game road trip. Louisiana Tech and the Charlotte 49ers will face off in a Conference USA battle at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday at Joe Aillet Stadium. Charlotte will be strutting in after a win while the Bulldogs will be stumbling in from a loss.
Louisiana Tech came up short against the UAB Blazers last week, falling 52-38. QB JD Head put forth a good effort for the losing side as he passed for two TDs and 196 yards on 35 attempts in addition to punching in one rushing touchdown.
The Louisiana Tech defensive unit accumulated four sacks for a loss of 32 yards. It was a group effort with four guys contributing.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Charlotte ultimately got the result they were hoping for last week with a 31-24 victory over the Rice Owls. WR Elijah Spencer and RB Shadrick Byrd were among the main playmakers for Charlotte as the former caught six passes for two TDs and 77 yards and the latter punched in one rushing touchdown. The 49ers' victory came on a 25-yard TD pass from QB Chris Reynolds to Spencer with only 0:00 remaining in overtime.
The Bulldogs are the favorite in this one, with an expected 6.5-point margin of victory. Those sticking with them against the spread have guts, to put it politely, as the team has let down bettors in their past four games.
Louisiana Tech is now 2-7 while Charlotte sits at 5-4. A couple defensive stats to keep an eye on: Louisiana Tech is 229th worst in the nation in rushing touchdowns allowed, with 20 on the season. The 49ers have experienced some struggles of their own as they are stumbling into the matchup with the 227th most passing touchdowns allowed in the nation, having given up 20 on the season. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
