Marshall vs. Rice: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAAF game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Marshall vs. Rice football game
Game Recap
After soaring to 42 points the game before, the Marshall Thundering Herd faltered in their contest Saturday. They took a hard 20 to nothing fall against the Rice Owls. If the result catches you off guard, it should: Marshall was far and away the favorite.
The Owls' only offensive touchdown came from TE Jordan Myers. On the other hand, one thorn in Rice's side was the less-than-spectacular play of QB Jovoni Johnson, who passed for only 86 yards on 14 attempts.
Rice's defense was a force to be reckoned with, as it collected five interceptions. Those interceptions were spread across their defensive unit.
With their first defeat of the season, Marshall fell to 7-1. The win got Rice back to even at 2-2.
The Thundering Herd will take on the FIU Panthers at 6:30 p.m. ET next Friday at Riccardo Silva Stadium. Like Marshall, FIU is looking to wash their mouths of the taste of defeat after falling 38-21 to the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers. Rice will look to defend their home turf next week against the UAB Blazers at 1 p.m. ET. Unlike Rice, UAB will be stumbling in off of a loss.
