The best player on the turf between the Maryland Terrapins and the Rutgers Scarlet Knights Saturday ended up on the losing team. Although he couldn't prevent a 27-24 defeat to RU, RB Jake Funk rushed for one TD and 180 yards on 17 carries. Funk's longest run was for 52 yards in the third quarter.
In addition to Funk, Maryland got help from WR Brian Cobbs, who caught five passes for one TD and 103 yards. One of the most thrilling moments was Cobbs' 52-yard TD reception in the fourth quarter.
WR Bo Melton was the offensive standout of the matchup for the Scarlet Knights, punching in two rushing touchdowns. That's the most rushing touchdowns Melton has had all year. Additional support came from defensive powerhouse DB Christian Izien, who racked up nine tackles.
Maryland's loss pushed them down to 2-3. RU's victory brought them up to 3-5.
With that, the East Division playoffs come to an end.
