After a year away from the game, former Auburn running back Michael Dyer will return to the football field this season, but he'll be doing so for a different school.
Dyer announced on Friday that he will be enrolling at Louisville this fall.
"I am ready to start a new chapter in my life," Dyer said in a release. "I have learned from my past and feel that Louisville is the best place to play the second half of my collegiate football career. I thank God for coach Strong's belief in me. I am not going to let him down."
Since Dyer graduated from Arkansas Baptist College he'll have immediate eligibility for the Cardinals in 2013.
Dyer's life has changed quite a bit since he rushed for 143 yards and played a pivotal role in Auburns 22-19 win against Oregon in the 2011 BCS National Championship Game while being named as the game's Offensive MVP.
After being suspended for failing drug tests in December 2011, Dyer left Auburn. He would transfer to Arkansas State where his former offensive coordinator at Auburn -- and now Auburn head coach -- Gus Malzahn was coach. However, Dyer would never play a game for Arkansas State, as he was dismissed after he was pulled over for speeding and police confiscated a handgun from his trunk.
In his two years at Auburn Dyer rushed for 2,335 yards and 15 touchdowns. At Louisville he'll be joining an offense that already features two strong running backs in Senorise Perry and Dominique Brown.
Perry rushed for 705 yards and 11 touchdowns last season even though he missed nearly four games with a knee injury. Brown sat out the entire 2012 season due to an injury of his own, but he rushed for 533 yards and four touchdowns as a freshman in 2011.
