Navy vs. Cincinnati updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Navy vs. Cincinnati football game
After a two-game homestand, the Cincinnati Bearcats will be on the road. Cincinnati and the Navy Midshipmen will face off in an American Athletic battle at noon ET on Saturday at Jack Stephens Field at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. The Bearcats won't have the home-field advantage, but they do enjoy a 28-point advantage in the spread.
If there were any doubts why Cincinnati was a heavy favorite Saturday, the squad quickly laid those doubts to rest. They steamrolled past the UCF Knights 56-21 at home. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-7. RB Jerome Ford had a dynamite game for Cincinnati; he rushed for four TDs and 189 yards on 20 carries. One of the most memorable plays of the matchup was Ford's 79-yard touchdown rush in the second quarter. Not surprisingly, Ford's sharp performance set his single-game rushing touchdown high for the season.
Meanwhile, the contest between Navy and the Memphis Tigers last Thursday was not a total blowout, but with Navy falling 35-17 on the road, it was darn close to turning into one. QB Tai Lavatai wasn't much of a difference maker for the Midshipmen; Lavatai passed for only 27 yards on four attempts.
This next contest looks promising for the Bearcats, who are favored by a full 28 points. They might be worth taking a chance on against the spread as they are currently on a four-game streak of ATS wins.
Cincinnati's win brought them up to 6-0 while Navy's loss pulled them down to 1-5. A pair of offensive stats to keep an eye on: Cincinnati comes into the contest boasting the sixth most overall offensive touchdowns in the nation at 34. Less enviably, the Midshipmen are 248th worst in the nation in passing yards per game, with only 59.3 on average. So the cards are definitely stacked against Navy.
