Live scores, highlights and updates from the Navy vs. Houston football game
Game Recap
The Houston Cougars lost to the Navy Midshipmen when the two teams previously met in November of last year, but they didn't allow Navy the same satisfaction this time around. The Cougars took down Navy 37-21 on Saturday.
Houston QB Clayton Tune was slinging it as he passed for three TDs and 316 yards on 34 attempts in addition to picking up 35 yards on the ground. Tune's 51-yard touchdown toss to WR Marquez Stevenson in the second quarter made for one of the most memorable moments of the afternoon. RB Kyle Porter was in the mix, too, providing Houston with two touchdowns.
Special teams collected 13 points for Houston. K Dalton Witherspoon delivered a perfect 3-for-3 game.
Navy's loss came about despite a quality game from QB Dalen Morris, who passed for two TDs and 206 yards on 18 attempts in addition to rushing for one TD and 46 yards. Near the top of the highlight reel was Morris' 60-yard TD bomb to WR Ryan Mitchell in the second quarter.
The win improved Houston's record to 2-1. The loss dropped the Midshipmen back to even at 3-3.
The Cougars will be playing at home against the UCF Knights at 1 p.m. ET next Saturday. Houston's defense better steel itself: UCF is averaging 45 points per game. As for Navy, they will go up against the SMU Mustangs at 1 p.m. ET next Saturday at Gerald J. Ford Stadium. Like Navy, SMU is looking to wash their mouths of the taste of defeat after falling 42-13 to the Cincinnati Bearcats.
