NC State vs. Clemson updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the NC State vs. Clemson football game
The Clemson Tigers are 5-0 against the NC State Wolfpack since October of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Tigers and NC State will face off in an ACC battle at 3:30 p.m. ET at Carter-Finley Stadium. Clemson won't have the home-field advantage, but they do enjoy a 10-point advantage in the spread.
Clemson didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup with the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets last week, but they still walked away with a 14-8 win. RB Will Shipley was the offensive standout of the contest for Clemson, punching in two rushing touchdowns.
Clemson's defense was a presence as well, as it got past the Yellow Jackets' offensive line to sack QB Jordan Yates four times for a total loss of 28 yards. It was a group effort with five guys contributing.
Meanwhile, if there were any doubts why the Wolfpack were heavy favorites Saturday, the team quickly laid those doubts to rest. They steamrolled past the Furman Paladins 45-7 at home. The squad ran away with 38 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those in the second to pick up the victory.
This next game looks promising for the Tigers, who are favored by a full 10 points. They may be expected to win, but bettors beware: they are 0-2 against the spread when favored.
The wins brought Clemson up to 2-1 and the Wolfpack to 2-1. A pair of stats to keep an eye on: Clemson is 159th worst in the nation in thrown interceptions, having thrown three on the season. NC State is completely their equal: they are stumbling into the game with the 159th most thrown interceptions in the nation, having thrown three on the season. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
