Nebraska vs. Northern Illinois: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAA Football game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Nebraska vs. Northern Illinois football game
The Northern Illinois Huskies will head out on the road to face off against the Nebraska Cornhuskers at 7:00 p.m. ET on Saturday at Tom Osborne Field at Memorial Stadium. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
The point spread favored Northern Illinois on Saturday, but luck did not. They fell just short of Southern Illinois by a score of 14-11.
Despite the defeat, Northern Illinois got a solid performance out of WR Kacper Rutkiewicz, who scored a touchdown off of 139 receiving yards. Rutkiewicz's longest reception was for an incredible 62 yards.
Meanwhile, the afternoon started off rough for Nebraska on Saturday and it ended that way too. They suffered a brutal 36-14 loss at the hands of Colorado. Nebraska have struggled against Colorado recently, as Saturday's contest was their third consecutive lost matchup.
The Cornhuskers weren't very productive in the air and finished the game with only 119 passing yards. They were destroyed by their opponents in that department as Colorado passed for 396.
Northern Illinois will need to dig deep on Saturday, as the experts think they're headed for a loss. They finished last season with a mediocre 4-8 record against the spread, so bettors beware.
That disadvantage in the odds might be especially worrying for Northern Illinois considering the team was a sub-par 1-3 as the underdog last season. While their fans probably aren't happy about it, betting on the team to lose was the smart play last year, and bettors who put $100 on that outcome every game finished the season up $1,606.00. On the other hand, Nebraska will play as the favorite, and the team was 3-2 as such last season.
