New Mexico vs. San Jose State updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the New Mexico vs. San Jose State football game
The San Jose State Spartans will head out on the road to face off against the New Mexico Lobos at 6:00 p.m. ET on Saturday at University Stadium. San Jose State is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
San Jose State might have drawn first blood against Boise State on Saturday, but it was Boise State who got the last laugh. San Jose State took a 35-27 hit to the loss column at the hands of Boise State. The loss hurts even more since San Jose State was up 27-7 with 4:56 left in the second.
Despite the loss, San Jose State had strong showings from Chevan Cordeiro, who threw for 325 yards on 23 of 38 attempts, and Kairee Robinson, who gained 134 total yards and a touchdown. That's the first time this season that Cordeiro threw for 300 or more yards.
Meanwhile, New Mexico couldn't handle Wyoming two Saturdays ago and fell 35-26.
New Mexico's defeat came about despite a quality game from Devon Dampier, who threw for 41 yards and two touchdowns. Jeremiah Hixon also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
The losses dropped San Jose State to 1-5 and New Mexico to 2-3.
Not only did the two teams lose their last games, but neither team managed to cover the spread. Looking ahead, San Jose State is the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by eight points. This will be New Mexico's first time playing as the underdogs at home this season.
