Utah State took a serious blow against Boise State, falling 45-10. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Utah State in their matchups with Boise State: they've now lost eight in a row.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Davon Booth, who rushed for 125 yards on only 12 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Jalen Royals, who picked up 113 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, New Mexico made the experts look like fools on Saturday, as the team pulled off a huge upset of Fresno State. They walked away with a 25-17 win over the Bulldogs. The win was just what New Mexico needed coming off of a 42-14 loss in their prior contest.
It was another big night for Jacory Croskey-Merritt, who rushed for 204 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.7 yards per carry. Croskey-Merritt was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 50 yards. Caleb Medford also helped out with an impressive 122 receiving yards.
Utah State now has a losing record at 5-6. As for New Mexico, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-7.
Looking ahead, Utah State is the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by 8.5 points. For those looking to play the spread, keep Utah State's opponent in mind: they have a solid 5-0 record against the spread vs New Mexico over their last five matchups.
Utah State strolled past New Mexico in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 by a score of 27-10. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was New Mexico's Nathaniel Jones, who rushed for 146 yards and a touchdown.
