North Texas vs. UTSA Live updates Score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAA Football game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the North Texas vs. UTSA football game
North Texas will be in front of their home fans on Saturday, but a look at the spread shows they might need that home-field advantage. They will take on the UTSA Roadrunners at 3:00 p.m. ET on Saturday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given how much these teams ran in their prior games.
North Texas pushed their score all the way to 42 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Memphis by a score of 45-42. The close contest was extra heartbreaking for North Texas, who almost overcame a 24 point deficit.
North Texas' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Chandler Rogers, who threw for 411 yards and five touchdowns, and Roderic Burns who picked up 102 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Rogers hasn't dropped below 300 passing yards for three straight games. Damon Ward also helped out as he racked up 120 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, UTSA had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They strolled past East Carolina with points to spare, taking the game 41-27.
Among those leading the charge was Frank Harris, who threw for 395 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 12.3 yards per attempt. Tykee Ogle-Kellogg was in the mix too, providing UTSA with two touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was UTSA's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. East Carolina's QB won't forget Trey Moore anytime soon given Moore sacked him five times.
Memphis' victory bumped their season record to 6-2 while North Texas' defeat dropped theirs to 3-5.
While only North Texas took care of their fans the last time they played, neither team managed to cover. As for their next game, UTSA is the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by eight points. This contest will be their fifth straight as the favorites (so far over this stretch they are 3-1 against the spread).
North Texas suffered a grim 48-27 defeat to UTSA in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. Will North Texas have more luck at home instead of on the road?
