3rd Quarter Report
Northwestern and Utah have shown up to the matchup, but their offenses sure haven't. Northwestern has jumped out to a 7-0 lead against Utah.
Northwestern entered the game having won three straight and they're just one quarter away from another. Will they make it four, or will Utah step up and spoil it? We'll know soon.
Preview
The Utah Utes and the Northwestern Wildcats will square off in the Las Vegas Bowl at Allegiant Stadium 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday. Despite being away, Utah is looking at a 6.5-point advantage in the spread.
Utah has more to be thankful for after their matchup against Colorado back in November. Utah snuck past Colorado with a 23-17 win. The victory was just what Utah needed coming off of a 42-18 defeat in their prior match.
Utah's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Luke Bottari, who rushed for 11 yards and two touchdowns. Cole Becker did his part by putting the 'special' in special teams, booting in three field goals and two extra points.
Meanwhile, Northwestern scored the most points they've had all season to find success back in November. They had just enough and edged Illinois out 45-43. Considering how many points were scored, both coaches might be spending a little more time focusing on defense before their next games.
Northwestern relied on the efforts of Cam Johnson, who picked up 124 receiving yards and a touchdown, and Ben Bryant, who threw for 234 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. Northwestern also relied on Jack Olsen, whose 46-yard boot in the fourth quarter wound up being the difference in the game.
Utah's record is now 8-4. As for Northwestern, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-5.
