Oklahoma State might not have the quarterback to repeat last season's run, but the schedule definitely sets up nicely for the Cowboys. Out of the top five teams in the Big 12's preseason poll, the Cowboys play four of them at home.
Must-see matchup: at Oklahoma, Nov. 24
Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops brought his brother Mike Stoops back to Norman in part because of the beatdown Oklahoma State put on the Sooners in 2011. The Cowboys racked up 495 yards in a 44-10 victory to win the Big 12 outright. The Cowboys are expected to take a step back this season, but this game could have major implications. If not, it's still a great rivalry.
Upset alert: at Kansas State, Nov. 3
Bill Snyder nearly had the blueprint to knock off Oklahoma State in 2011: a ball control offense that kept the powerful OSU offense off the field. The Wildcats held the ball more than twice as long as the Cowboys -- 40:49 to 19:11 -- and nearly pulled off the upset, losing 52-45. Calling this an "upset alert" might be a bit of a stretch, considering the Wildcats are ranked and return quarterback Collin Klein.
It's a breeze: Oct. 13 through Oct. 27 -- at Kansas, vs. Iowa State, vs. TCU
This is as easy as it gets in the Big 12: a trip to Kansas and then two home games against Iowa State and TCU. The Cowboys will not be overlooking the Cyclones, who ended their bid at an undefeated season last year. The TCU game should be a good one and one Oklahoma State is happy to play at home.
Brutal stretch: Nov. 3 through Nov. 24 -- at Kansas State, vs. West Virginia, vs. Texas Tech, at Oklahoma
This stretch includes Oklahoma State's two toughest road games -- at Kansas State and Oklahoma. West Virginia could be Oklahoma State's most difficult home game, as no Big 12 coach knows the Cowboys better than former offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen. Not only did Holgorsen help build the Oklahoma State offense, he hired former Oklahoma State assistant Joe DeForest to run his defense.
