Oklahoma State vs. Missouri State: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAAF game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Oklahoma State vs. Missouri State football game
Game Recap
The Oklahoma State Cowboys won the last time they met up with the Missouri State Bears, and they shouldn't regret having come to the reunion, either. Oklahoma State was able to grind out a solid win over MSU on Saturday, winning 23-16.
The Cowboys' offense came in ready to rumble, picking up 20 points in the first half. MSU countered with 3 points. Oklahoma State couldn't replicate their first half dominance, getting outscored after the break, but not by enough to lose the matchup.
No one had a standout game offensively for Oklahoma State, but they got scores from RB LD Brown, RB Jaylen Warren, and WR Langston Anderson. QB Shane Illingworth also helped out by tossing the rock for 315 yards.
The Cowboys' defense was a presence, as it got past MSU's offensive line to sack QB Jason Shelley five times for a total loss of 41 yards. Leading the way was LB Devin Harper and his two sacks. Those were the first sacks for Harper.
Like Oklahoma State, MSU didn't have any clear offensive standouts, but they got one touchdown from WR Tyrone Scott. The contest brought Oklahoma State to 1-0 and dropped MSU to a mirror-image 0-1.
The Cowboys have the luxury of staying home another week and will welcome the Tulsa Golden Hurricane at noon ET Sept. 11 at Boone Pickens Stadium. Unlike Oklahoma State, Tulsa will be limping in after taking a loss. MSU will be playing at home against the Central Arkansas Bears at 8 p.m. ET next Saturday. Like MSU, Central Arkansas is looking to wash their mouths of the taste of defeat after falling 40-21 to the Arkansas State Red Wolves.
