The No. 12 Utah Utes will play their first official Big 12 conference game in program history when they face No. 14 Oklahoma State Cowboys on the road on Saturday. Utah (3-0) defeated Baylor, a Big 12 team, 23-12 on Sept. 7 but given the two schools agreed to the game as a non-conference matchup while Utah was playing in the Pac-12, it didn't count toward either team's conference record. No. 14 Oklahoma State (3-0) is coming off a 45-10 win over Tulsa last week after defeating Arkansas, 39-31, in double overtime on Sept. 7.

Kickoff is scheduled for Saturday at 4 p.m. ET at Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater, Oklahoma. It's only the schools' second meeting in program history, the first being a 46-6 victory for Oklahoma State in 1945. Oklahoma State is a 2.5-point favorite in the latest Utah vs. Oklahoma State odds from SportsLine consensus, while the over/under for total points scored is 52.5. Why you should back Utah

Utah is coming off its 10th straight winning season to earn the invitation to compete for a Big 12 conference title against programs like Kansas State, Iowa State and West Virginia. Utah starting quarterback Cameron Rising is expected to start after missing last week with a hand injury, but it remains an injury to monitor leading up to the contest. Rising has become synonymous with Utah football over the past few years as he's spent the last six years at the school.

Rising sat out as a freshman in 2019 and was a medical redshirt last season with a knee injury. Rising threw for 3,034 yards and 26 touchdowns with eight interceptions in 2022 before missing 2023. He has incredible familiarity with coach Kyle Whittingham and the team's offensive philosophies and that could be displayed again on Saturday. See which team to pick here.

Why you should back Oklahoma State

Oklahoma State ranks 11th in college football in scoring at 42 points per game. The Cowboys have had an elite aerial attack this season, entering the week ranking third in college football in passing yards at 378.5 yards per game. Alan Bowman, in his seventh college season, returned as Oklahoma State's starting quarterback this season after throwing for 3,460 yards and 15 touchdowns with 14 interceptions last season. Bowman is completing 67% of his passes for 967 yards with eight touchdowns and two interceptions over the first three games of the season. The 24-year-old completed 24 of 31 passes for 396 yards and five touchdowns last week.

Oklahoma State is 22-2 at home since the start of the 2021 season with one of the best home-field advantages in college football. The Cowboys went 6-0 at home against ranked opponents during that span, so it wasn't just defeating teams they were superior to. Mike Gundy enters his 20th season as Oklahoma State head coach and has led the Cowboys to a winning record in each season with the program after his first year and is coming off a 10-4 campaign last year. Oklahoma State has risen from the preseason No. 17 team with its 3-0 start and that climb has the potential to reach into the top 10 teams in the country. See which team to pick here.
