Old Dominion vs. Georgia State updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Old Dominion vs. Georgia State football game
3rd Quarter Report
Fortunes may be turning around for Georgia State after losing four in a row. They have a bit of a cushion as they currently lead Old Dominion 21-7. Georgia State took a big hit to their ego last Saturday, so a victory here would be a pleasant pick-me-up.
If Georgia State keeps playing like this, they'll bump their record up to 7-5 in no time. On the other hand, Old Dominion will have to make due with a 5-7 record unless they turn things around (and fast).
Preview
The Georgia State Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Old Dominion Monarchs at 2:00 p.m. ET on Saturday at Kornblau Field at S.B. Ballard Stadium. Georgia State is limping into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
Georgia State and LSU couldn't quite live up to the 74-over/under that the experts had forecasted. It's going to take some time for Georgia State to recover from the 56-14 bruising that LSU dished out on Saturday. Georgia State was surely aware of their disadvantage in the point spread, but the foreknowledge did nothing to prevent the result.
The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Darren Grainger and Jayden Daniels. Daniels had a great game and threw for 413 yards and six touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes. Meanwhile, Grainger did his best for the losing side, throwing for 179 yards and a touchdown while completing 79.3% of his passes.
Meanwhile, Old Dominion's three-game losing streak finally came to an end on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 20-17 win over Georgia Southern. The win was just what Old Dominion needed coming off of a 38-10 loss in their prior game.
Old Dominion can attribute much of their success to Grant Wilson, who picked up 30 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 182 yards and a touchdown.
With Georgia State's defeat and App. State's win, both teams now sport identical 6-4 records.
Georgia State strolled past Old Dominion in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 by a score of 31-17. The rematch might be a little tougher for Georgia State since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
