The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers and the Old Dominion Monarchs will square off in the Famous Toastery Bowl at Jerry Richardson Stadium 2:30 p.m. ET on Monday. Western Kentucky is expected to lose this one by 2.5 points, so we'll see if that gives them a bit of motivation.
Western Kentucky has more to be thankful for after their game against FIU back in November. Western Kentucky walked away with a 41-28 win over FIU. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Western Kentucky.
Austin Reed was the offensive standout of the contest as he threw for 280 yards and four touchdowns while completing 74.3% of his passes.
Meanwhile, Old Dominion gave up the first points back in November, but they didn't let that get them down. They slipped by Georgia State 25-24. The win was all the more spectacular given Old Dominion was down 21 points with 8:15 left in the second quarter.
Reymello Murphy and Obie Sanni were among the main playmakers for Old Dominion as the former picked up 96 receiving yards and a touchdown and the latter rushed for 85 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries. Sanni was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 67 yards. Grant Wilson also helped with two touchdowns in total.
Western Kentucky is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. As for Old Dominion, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.
