Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart set an SEC single-game record with 24 straight completions on Saturday staying perfect into the fourth quarter of the No. 6 Rebels' 52-3 win over Middle Tennessee. Dart finished 25 of 27 for 377 yards with a passing touchdown and a rushing touchdown.
Dart's 24 for 24 start bested the 23 straight completions posted by former Tennessee quarterback Tee Martin to begin a 1998 victory over South Carolina. Including Dart's final six completions from the Rebels' Week 1 win over Furman, he connected on 30 straight passes before finally misfiring with 9:56 remaining against the Blue Raiders.
The near-perfection from the Ole Miss passing game is just one highlight of a prolific start to the program's highly anticipated 2024 season. The Rebels posted 772 total yards in their 76-0 season-opening win against Furman and followed up with 655 more against MTSU.
Dart is now 47 of 54 for 795 yards with six passing touchdowns and no interceptions on the year. Though the competition has been underwhelming, it's nonetheless a head-turning start for coach Lane Kiffin's attack. The program's No. 6 preseason rank was its highest since 1970, when Archie Manning was the program's quarterback, and the Rebels are poised to rise even higher following No. 5 Notre Dame's loss to Northern Illinois on Saturday.

Ole Miss will get an upgrade in competition next week at Wake Forest. However, their first game against a ranked foe doesn't come until an Oct. 12 trip to LSU, which means their could be plenty more prolific performances on the way.
