Ole Miss vs. Mississippi State: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Thursday's NCAA Football game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Ole Miss vs. Mississippi State football game
The Ole Miss Rebels and the Mississippi State Bulldogs will face off in an SEC clash at 7 p.m. ET Nov. 24 at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium at Hollingsworth Field. If the nothing to nothing final from the last time they met is any indication, this game will be decided by the defense.
The Rebels might not have won anyway, but with 101 yards lost due to penalties, they really shot themselves in the foot this past Saturday. They took a hard 42-27 fall against the Arkansas Razorbacks. Despite 200 more yards than Arkansas, Ole Miss could not convert that extra yardage to scores. A silver lining for Ole Miss was the play of RB Zach Evans, who rushed for one TD and 207 yards on 17 carries.
Meanwhile, when you finish with 264 more yards than your opponent like MSU did this past Saturday, a favorable outcome is almost sure to follow. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 56-7 victory over the ETSU Buccaneers. With MSU ahead 35 to nothing at the half, the contest was all but over already. It was another big night for their QB Will Rogers, who passed for five TDs and 301 yards on 37 attempts.
Special teams collected 32 points for the Bulldogs. K Massimo Biscardi delivered a perfect 8-for-8 game.
This next matchup is expected to be close, with the Rebels going off at just a 2-point favorite. But bettors beware: they are only 2-5-1 against the spread when favored.
Ole Miss is now 8-3 while MSU sits at 7-4. A couple offensive stats to keep an eye on: Ole Miss ranks third in the nation when it comes to rushing yards per game, with 278 on average. The Bulldogs have displayed some offensive firepower of their own as they enter the game with 33 passing touchdowns, good for eighth best in the nation.
