Live scores, highlights and updates from the Ole Miss vs. Vanderbilt football game
Vanderbilt is staring down a pretty large 24.5-point disadvantage in the spread for Saturday's matchup. They will head out on the road to face off against the Ole Miss Rebels at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium at Hollingsworth Field. Vanderbilt is staggering into the game hobbled by six consecutive losses, while Ole Miss will skip in buoyed by three consecutive wins.
There was early excitement for Vanderbilt after they claimed the first score two weeks ago, but it was Georgia who ended up claiming the real prize. Vanderbilt took a hard 37-20 fall against Georgia. Vanderbilt was down 27-7 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
The Commodores had trouble moving the ball and finished the game with only 219 total yards. They were smoked by their opponents in that department as Georgia gained 552.
Meanwhile, Ole Miss' game on Saturday was all tied up 14-14 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They walked away with a 28-21 victory over Auburn. That's two games straight that Ole Miss has won by exactly seven points.
Ole Miss' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaxson Dart, who rushed for 44 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 202 yards and a touchdown on only 17 passes. Ole Miss also got a significant boost from Quinshon Judkins, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 124 yards.
Ole Miss' victory bumped their season record to 6-1 while Vanderbilt's defeat dropped theirs to 2-6.
While only Ole Miss took care of their fans the last time they played, both teams pleased bettors by covering the spread. As for their next game, the game looks promising for Ole Miss, as the team is favored by a full 24.5 points. Currently 5-2 against the spread, they have been a solid investment this season; on the other hand, Vanderbilt is only 1-7 ATS.
Vanderbilt suffered a grim 52-28 defeat to Ole Miss when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Can Vanderbilt avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
