Ole Miss vs. Vanderbilt updates: Live NCAAF game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Ole Miss vs. Vanderbilt football game
Game Recap
The Ole Miss Rebels won the last time they met up with the Vanderbilt Commodores, and they shouldn't regret having come to the reunion, either. Ole Miss was able to grind out a solid win over Vanderbilt on Saturday, winning 31-17.
The Rebels' offense came in ready to rumble, picking up 24 points in the first half. The Commodores weren't quite able to keep up, and the score was 24-9 heading into the break. Ole Miss was outperformed in the second half 8-7 but had enough points saved up to walk away with the win.
Ole Miss relied on the efforts of RB Jerrion Ealy, who punched in one rushing touchdown in addition to snatching one receiving TD, and QB Matt Corral, who passed for two TDs and 326 yards on 36 attempts. Corral had some trouble finding his footing against the Texas A&M Aggies last week, so this was a step in the right direction. WR Jahcour Pearson also helped out with an impressive 101 receiving yards in the victory.
A silver lining for Vanderbilt was the play of RB Rocko Griffin Jr., who rushed for one TD and 117 yards on 26 carries. The contest pushed the Commodores down to 2-9 and pulled the Rebels up to the reverse at 9-2.
Ole Miss will square off against the Mississippi State Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. ET on Thursday at Davis Wade Stadium at Scott Field. Like Ole Miss, MSU is also coming into the matchup bolstered by a recent win. Vanderbilt is staying on the road next Saturday to face off against the Tennessee Volunteers at 3:45 p.m. ET Nov. 27 at Neyland Stadium. The defensive coordinators will surely put in extra hours ahead of this game since these teams' offenses combined for 1,015 yards this week.
