Here is some news and notes from around the Pac-12:
- The Cal Bears have been brutal up front, and it has wreaked havoc on their passing game, Jeff Faraudo of the Oakland Tribune wrote. Cal has allowed 13 sacks in the previous two games, and the O-line's injuries and resulting inexperience have the Bears -- and QB Zach Maynard -- scrambling.
- UCLA got good news and bad news for the upcoming matchup at Colorado. The Bruins expect senior offensive guard Jeff Baca to return but linebacker Jordan Zumwalt will not travel with the team after being involved in a traffic accident on his scooter, Miguel Melendez of the Los Angeles Daily News reported.
- The Utah Utes are suffering a major lack of home-run hitters, Bill Riley of the Desert News wrote. The Utes managed just four plays of 10 or more yards, Riley noted, while Arizona State had 16 in the Sun Devils' 37-7 win on Saturday.
- It's been a long, hard road for Washington State defensive lineman Xavier Cooper, but he's made the most of his opportunities for the Cougars, Christian Caple of the Seattle Times reported. Cooper has four tackles for loss and a sack among his eight tackles as a redshirt freshman.
- The red zone was more like the dead zone for the Arizona Wildcats on Saturday. Arizona made it inside the Oregon Ducks' 20-yard line six times and came up fruitless in a 49-0 loss, Ryan Finley of the Arizona Daily Star reported.
