Penn State vs. Minnesota: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Saturday's NCAA Football game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Penn State vs. Minnesota football game
The Penn State Nittany Lions and the Minnesota Golden Gophers are set to square off in a Big Ten matchup at 7:30 p.m. ET Oct. 22 at Beaver Stadium. The Nittany Lions are out to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
Penn State's and the Michigan Wolverines' contest last week was up for grabs at halftime, but Penn State was thoroughly outmatched 25-3 in the second half. Penn State suffered a grim 41-17 defeat to Michigan. QB Sean Clifford put forth a good effort for the losing side as he accumulated 120 passing yards in addition to picking up 74 yards on the ground. Clifford's longest run was for 62 yards in the second quarter.
Meanwhile, Minnesota came up short against the Illinois Fighting Illini last week, falling 26-14. QB Tanner Morgan wasn't much of a difference maker for the Golden Gophers; Morgan threw one interception with a passing completion percentage of only 33.33%.
The Nittany Lions are the favorite in this one, with an expected 4-point margin of victory. They have failed bettors playing the spread in their past three games, so buyers beware.
Penn State is now 5-1 while Minnesota sits at 4-2. A couple defensive stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: Penn State ranks eighth in the nation when it comes to passing touchdowns allowed, with only five on the season. As for the Golden Gophers, they come into the game boasting the third fewest rushing touchdowns allowed in the nation at three.
