Penn State vs. Rutgers updates: Live NCAA Football game scores, results for Saturday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Penn State vs. Rutgers football game
3rd Quarter Report
Only one more quarter stands between Penn State and the win they were favored to collect coming into this afternoon. Sitting on a score of 13-6, they have looked like the better team, but there's still one more quarter to play.
If Penn State keeps playing like this, they'll bump their record up to 8-2 in no time. On the other hand, Rutgers will have to make due with a 6-4 record unless they turn things around (and fast).

1st Quarter Report
Rutgers fell flat on their face against Iowa last Saturday, but memory of that harsh loss doesn't seem to have tripped them up today. A win is still up for grabs for either team after one quarter, but Rutgers is up 3-0 over Penn State. This game is far closer than the pair's previous matchup, which was decided by 45 points.
Rutgers came into the contest with some extra motivation after the loss they were dealt the last time these two teams faced off. We'll see if they're able to flip the script or if it'll just be more of the same.
Preview
Rutgers is 0-8 against Penn State since September of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Rutgers Scarlet Knights will head out on the road to face off against the Penn State Nittany Lions at 12:00 p.m. ET at Beaver Stadium. Rutgers is expected to lose this one by 20.5 points, so we'll see if that gives them a bit of motivation.
The defenses reigned supreme when Rutgers and Iowa played on Saturday, rewarding bettors who took the risk on the low 27.5-point over/under. Things couldn't have gone much worse for Rutgers as they lost 22-0 to Iowa. Rutgers has struggled against Iowa recently, as their contest on Saturday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, the Scarlet Knights had trouble moving the ball and finished the game with only 127 total yards. They were demolished by their opponents in that department as Iowa gained 402.
Meanwhile, Penn State scored first but ultimately less than Michigan in their matchup on Saturday. They took a 24-15 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wolverines. It was the first time this season that Penn State let down their fans at home.
Despite the loss, Penn State got a solid performance out of Drew Allar, who rushed for 49 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 70 yards and a touchdown.
The losses dropped Rutgers to 6-4 and Penn State to 8-2.
Not only did the two teams lose their last games, but neither team managed to cover the spread. Looking ahead, the game looks promising for Penn State, as the team is favored by a full 20.5 points. Anyone thinking of taking Rutgers against the spread should keep this in mind: the team hasn't covered the last three times they've played Penn State.
Rutgers was dealt a punishing 55-10 loss at the hands of Penn State in their previous meeting back in November of 2022. Can Rutgers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
