Watchability: In two games against ranked opponents last year (at Arkansas and at Boise State), the Lobos were outscored 97-3. For the few who have the Longhorn Network and will get to watch this game, expect a blowout.

Shining stars: Texas: New Mexico ranked 119th in rushing defense last year, giving up 246.92 yards per game, so it's pick your favorite Longhorn running back here to break out. RB Malcolm Brown is our best guess. Brown ran for 105 yards and a TD in the opener. New Mexico: Like Texas, New Mexico spreads the ball around its backfield. RB Demarcus Rogers led the team in rushing in its 66-21 Week 1 victory over Southern, running for 103 yards and a touchdown.

Who could steal the show: Texas: DE Jackson Jeffcoat led the Longhorns with nine tackles against Wyoming. Jeffcoat and fellow DE Alex Okafor could disrupt New Mexico's triple option if they're able to get in the backfield. New Mexico: If the Longhorns key in on Rogers and the other New Mexico running backs, QB Cole Gautsche is capable of big runs. Gautche ran for 88 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries in the opener, averaging better than 11 yards per rush.

You going? Ranking the road trip: It has been 100-plus degrees this week in Austin and the forecast for Saturday, according to Weather.com, is a high of 93 with isolated thunder storms. Austin always has a lot to offer, but considering the opponent and time of the year, there are more desirable games down the road to attend.

Magic number for Texas: 1 for 11. That was Wyoming's success rate on third down against the Longhorns. The only way the Lobos stay in this game is if they're able to put together long, time-consuming drives. That's not likely if the Longhorns are successful again on third down.

Magic number for New Mexico: 14. The Lobos topped 14 points only three times last season. If they're able to get to 14 against Texas' D, consider it a moral victory.

The game comes down to: Defending the run. Both teams want to run the ball. So long as Texas is not confused by New Mexico's option attack, Longhorns should win big. 

Prediction: Texas 45, New Mexico 3
