Towson (2-1, 1-0 CAA) at No. 3 LSU (4-0, 1-0 SEC)
Kickoff: Saturday, 7 p.m. ET (ESPNU)
Spread: No line
Watchability: Even though LSU wasn't crisp in its 12-10 victory over Auburn last week, it will have no problem rolling over Towson, an FCS program. There are many better games to choose from this weekend.
Shining stars: LSU: DE Sam Montgomery was named the SEC defensive player of the week for his huge game at Auburn. He had 11 tackles, six TFLs and two sacks. If Auburn struggled to block him, what can he do against Towson? Towson: Sophomore RB Terrance West won the Jerry Rice Award in 2011, given to the top FCS freshman. He had 194 rushes for 1,294 yards last year, and he's off to a good start in 2012 with 49 carries for 271 yards and 5 touchdowns through just three games.
Who could steal the show: LSU: RB Michael Ford is a backup to Kenny Hilliard, but this is the type of game he could get a lot of work. The speedy back could add a lot of yards to his current total of 148 on the season. Towson: DE Romale Tucker originally signed with Syracuse, but he ended up at Towson. He's carved a niche as a pass-rushing specialist, averaging a sack a game thus far in 2012.
You going? Ranking the road trip: It's Baton Rouge, it's a night game, but it won't have quite the same feel as a big-time SEC contest. Save your time and money for one of the four SEC home games the Tigers still have on their schedule.
Magic number for LSU: 36. That's how many straight nonconference wins the Tigers have in Tiger Stadium, dating back to a 13-10 loss to UAB in 2000.
Magic number for Towson: 3. LSU is ranked third nationally in rushing defense. That poses a problem for a FCS team that relies on the run.
The game comes down to: Barring a catastrophe, LSU will win easily. Penalties, mental errors and turnovers are the best way to get in trouble against an underdog, but even plenty of those blunders won't stop LSU in this one.
Prediction: LSU 56, Towson 7
