Live scores, highlights and updates from the Purdue vs. Nebraska football game
Game Recap
After constant struggles on the road, the Nebraska Cornhuskers have finally found some success away from home. They netted a 37-27 win over the Purdue Boilermakers Saturday. This was the most points they've scored all season.
Nebraska started the game off right with 27 first-half points. Purdue countered with 13 points. Although the Cornhuskers wound up losing the second-half battle, they still had enough in reserve to win the war.
Nebraska QB Adrian Martinez was slinging it as he passed for one TD and 242 yards on 30 attempts in addition to rushing for two TDs and 45 yards. That's the most rushing touchdowns Martinez has had all year. Nebraska also got help from WR Wan'Dale Robinson, who showed off his sure hands for 114 receiving yards in the victory.
Special teams collected 13 points for Nebraska. K Connor Culp delivered a perfect 3-for-3 game.
Purdue's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of QB Jack Plummer, who passed for three TDs and 334 yards on 47 attempts, and WR David Bell, who caught ten passes for one TD and 132 yards. One of the most thrilling moments was Bell's 89-yard TD reception in the fourth quarter.
The Cornhuskers' win brought them up to 2-4. The Boilermakers' overall record fell to an identical 2-4.
Nebraska will take on the Minnesota Golden Gophers at 1 p.m. ET next week at Tom Osborne Field at Memorial Stadium. Like Nebraska, Minnesota is also coming into the contest bolstered by a recent victory. As for Purdue, they will go up against the Indiana Hoosiers at noon ET next week at Memorial Stadium. If the matchup is anything like IU's 44-41 victory from their previous meeting in November of last year, the scorekeeper will be kept real busy.
