FLORENCE, Ala. (AP) TJ Smith threw for 207 yards and four touchdowns and ran for another and North Alabama beat Utah Tech 60-14 on Saturday.
Smith threw scoring passes of 8, 23, 19 and 55 yards to Kaleb Heatherly, Dakota Warfield, Jayvian Allen and Jalen Fletcher, respectively. Smith and his receiver quartet did all that before Smith ran it in from the 2 a little past the midway point of the third quarter to make it 53-0.
The lead reached 60 when Ben Harris ran it in from the 1 to end a 10-play, 75-yard drive that started late in the third and ended in the fourth.
Utah Tech dodged the shutout when Bronson Barben threw touchdowns of 39 and 75 yards to Alec Burton and Bryce Parker on consecutive drives.
It was the second meeting between UNA (2-5, 2-1 United Athletic) and Utah Tech (0-6, 0-2).
Last year’s meeting was a thriller in Braly Stadium, as the Lions won 31-30. That loss jumpstarted Utah Tech's current losing streak which stands at 11 games.
