Dawgpost.com is reporting that the duo will be suspended for a violation of team rules, and that the suspensions will last for at least two games and as many as four.
According to the Athens Banner-Herald, Georgia could be without Rambo for much longer than that. The rising senior's high school coach told the paper that Rambo had failed a school-administered drug test and was facing a mandatory four-game suspension.
Rambo is appealing his suspension, the Banner-Herald reported, and his remaining on the Georgia roster could hinge on the outcome of that appeal; Rambo is also reportedly considering entering the NFL's supplemental draft.
According to Rambo's high school coach, Rambo does not smoke marijuana but tested positive after accidentally eating pot brownies with a group of friends on a spring break trip.
Both Rambo and Ogletree are important members of a Georgia defense that finished fifth nationally in points allowed last season. Rambo was named an All-American after starting 13 games and picking off 8 passes. His numbers may have been even better had he not been suspended for Georgia's 2011 season opener against Boise State--the result of a summer stop for speeding in which marijuana was found in the car.
Ogletree started only 8 games for the Bulldogs last season thanks to a broken foot, but he recorded 52 tackles and forced 3 fumbles in those games.
Losing these two to a suspension is bad news on it's own for the Georgia defense, but remember that cornerbacks Sanders Commings and Branden Smith have also been given suspensions by Mark Richt this offseason. Add it up, and the Bulldogs will be down three starters in the secondary vs. Buffalo and -- much more importantly -- at least two vs. Mizzou.
